Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2014

“Into Oblivion features two Australian musicians of exceptional calibre: concert pianist Ambre Hammond and accordionist extraordinaire Marcello Maio – playing in intimate cabaret mode to the tables and mood lighting of the Artspace...

...What is basically a classical music recital transforms effortlessly into this cabaret setting due largely to Hammond’s affinity with the audience. She is the classic raconteur with many amusing stories to tell, often at Maio’s expense. Marcello barely gets a word in, but we suspect he’s content with that. Being World Cup season this pair of football tragics of mixed European heritage has much to bait each other about...

...They also provide ‘a visual feast’, with Hammond prowling around the keyboard with a knowing stylishness, and Maio gently coaxing every nuance from his beloved accordion...

...Each in turn plays a haunting solo piece, showcasing the ‘finesse and prowess’ of the individual musician. But the magic of the evening comes from the fact that they work so well together, and clearly enjoy doing so...

Australian Talent Quests - Official Judge

Ambre is my performance idol. Not only does she play like a tornado, but she is also at once sexy, funny and full of grace. When she speaks, this molten voice washes over the audience as we sit hushed, transfixed, yet somehow laughing and then, when she stops we appear to snap out of a dream. There is certainly magic in it. And the best thing of all is that she's dead humble. I have always sought such mentors- exceptional but grounded.

That was absolutely BRILLIANT! I don't know when I've enjoyed a concert so much. I can't thank you enough. Everyone is raving about you... wanting to know when you're coming back... kids now want piano lessons... one person says they're going to be happy for the next six weeks all because of one concert!!! I hope you enjoyed it as much as the rest of us.  You certainly are an entire package - talented, stunningly beautiful and with the most fantastic personality. Wow! You deserve to do well. My husband bought one of the CDs, so we'll be able to sit down and enjoy your music all over again.Again... thank you so much.
